Springfield Man Sentenced to 5 Years for Attempted Armed Robbery at Get N Go Market

Springfield, OR – On May 28, 2025, Mario Joel Moreno-Soto, a 31-year-old Springfield resident, was found guilty of multiple charges stemming from an armed robbery attempt at the Get N Go Market on November 11, 2024. The sentencing marks the conclusion of a case that began when Springfield Police Officers responded to the market at 150 28th Street, where Moreno-Soto allegedly threatened a clerk with a firearm.

According to the original Springfield Police Department press release, Moreno-Soto entered the market at 4:56 PM on November 11, 2024, dressed in a black hooded sweatshirt jacket, a black COVID-19 style mask, black sweatpants, and black Crocs-style shoes. He brandished a small firearm, demanded money from the front counter clerk, and fled on foot after collecting the cash. Using video surveillance, officers and detectives identified Moreno-Soto as the suspect. On November 12, 2024, detectives located him in a parking lot near S. 32nd and Main Street, where he was taken into custody without incident. The stolen money and firearm were recovered during the arrest.

Moreno-Soto was charged with Robbery I following his arrest. After a trial, he was convicted on May 28, 2025, of the following:
  1. Attempt to Commit a Class B Felony (Robbery in the First Degree) – a Class C Felony under ORS 161.405(2)(c) (60-month sentence)
  2. Unlawful Use of a Weapon under ORS 166.220, a Class C Felony (18-month sentence)
  3. Menacing under ORS 163.190, a Class A Misdemeanor (180-day sentence)
The court ordered Moreno-Soto to serve 60 months (5 years) for the attempted robbery, with the sentences for unlawful use of a weapon and menacing to run concurrently. Since these are not Measure 11 sentences, Moreno-Soto is eligible for good time credit and potential early release. After release, Moreno-Soto will be under Post-Prison Supervision for three years.

Currently, Moreno-Soto is housed in the Lane County Jail, awaiting transfer to Coffee Creek Correctional Facility for intake. Following intake, he will be transferred to an all-male Oregon prison to serve the remainder of his sentence.
