Jeffrey Alan Voss Transferred to FCI Sheridan Amid Probation Violation Proceedings
EUGENE, OR – Jeffrey Alan Voss, a 31-year-old man on supervised release, is now being held at the Federal Correctional Institution, Sheridan (FCI Sheridan), a medium-security federal prison in Sheridan, Oregon, following multiple probation violations. Voss was transferred last week from Douglas County Jail, where he had been in custody since his arrest on April 21, 2025, for court proceedings related to his breaches.
Voss was originally sentenced on April 9, 2025, to five years of probation for interstate threatening communication after serving six months in custody. His legal troubles stem from a series of violations shortly after his sentencing. On April 14, 2025, Voss accessed the internet without permission at a public library, violating Special Condition #15, which prohibits internet use without prior approval from his probation officer. The following day, he contacted a female via Facebook under the username “Jeff JV,” sending explicit images and a nude video. Voss admitted to sending similar content to three other females, confirming the violations. He also failed to comply with Standard Condition #4 by lying to his probation officer about his internet use, missed a required urinalysis test on April 10, 2025 (violating Special Condition #4), and contacted the FBI on April 11, 2025, demanding the return of firearms he was barred from possessing.
Court documents highlight Voss’s dismissive attitude toward his probation terms. During an office visit on April 10, 2025, he expressed frustration over firearm restrictions and stated he did not believe he needed to be on probation. His probation officer noted that Voss’s actions, including sending explicit content to strangers, pose a community risk. On April 17, 2025, a summons was issued for Voss to appear in court on April 21, 2025, at the Wayne L. Morse U.S. Courthouse in Eugene, Oregon. Voss waived his right to a preliminary hearing and was arrested by the U.S. Marshals Service that day. Amy Potter was appointed as his CJA Panel Attorney on April 18, 2025.
The history of Voss’s case dates back to September 2024, when he posted violent threats on Facebook, including videos where he held a firearm and referenced becoming the next Kip Kinkel, a 1998 school shooter in Springfield, Oregon. Following a concerned citizen’s report on September 27, 2024, Voss was arrested by the Eugene Police Department. The FBI later seized firearms, body armor, and a note detailing his violent intentions from his residence. Voss was indicted on November 5, 2024, pleaded guilty on March 6, 2025, and was sentenced on April 9, 2025. The case was investigated by the FBI and Eugene Police Department and prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney William M. McLaren.
As Voss awaits further updates on the consequences of his probation violations at FCI Sheridan, the court will determine whether to impose stricter penalties or revoke his supervised release entirely.
