Cat Shot in Carrier, Eugene Police Seek Suspect

EUGENE, Ore. — A young brown tabby cat was fatally shot inside a carrier and abandoned on a hill in Eugene, prompting police to seek public assistance in identifying the suspect.

On April 5 at 3:15 p.m., Eugene Police responded to reports of gunshots in the 3600 block of Snowberry Road.
Witnesses reported hearing several shots from a steep hill and saw a man flee the scene before speeding off in a dark-colored Acura sedan (or possibly a VW sedan) with a partial license plate of "8908."

Officers found the injured cat, a female not spayed, inside a carrier. Despite being rushed to an emergency veterinary clinic, the cat’s injuries were too severe, and she was humanely euthanized.
Police are searching for a person of interest described as a Hispanic man in his 20s, approximately 6 feet tall, with an average build, shaved head, and a ponytail. He was last seen wearing a red shirt. Authorities also seek information about the victim cat to aid in the investigation.

Anyone with information is urged to contact Eugene Police at 541-682-5748.
