Convicted Sex Offender Arrested for New Child Sex Crime Allegations in Eugene
EUGENE, OR — On April 19, 2025, 55-year-old Shawn C. Bland, a convicted sex offender, was arrested by the Eugene Police Department on five charges, including 3 new accusations of child sex crimes.
Bland, described as a white male, 5'7" tall, 190 pounds, with brown hair and green eyes, is currently in custody at Lane County Jail.
Police records reveal that Bland, already a registered sex offender, now faces felony charges of online sexual corruption of a child, luring a minor, and using child in display of sexually explicit conduct, all 3 involving a minor. The last charge being a Measure 11 crime carries a mandatory minimum sentence, if convicted, of 5 years, 10 months. Also if convicted, Bland would be required by law to serve each and every day of that sentence with no options for "good time" or early release.
Bland was also charged with two counts of failure to report as a sex offender—one in Eugene classified as a misdemeanor and another in Linn County classified as a felony.
The charges are listed under an EPD case number 25-6824 for all 5, and a Linn County Circuit Court case number of 22CR30276 is included for the fifth, indicating there was a warrant for that case. The first 4 charges are marked as "PC" (probable cause), indicating they have not yet been filed in court.
There is no bail set at this time for Bland's release. He is currently under security bond conditions, with bond group number 0 for all charges. No next court date has been specified in the records.
Bland is not an Oregon level 3 sex offender, as such he is not listed on the Oregon State Police Sex Offender Registry Section.
The Eugene Police Department has not released further details about the case. This arrest highlights ongoing efforts by local law enforcement to address sex crimes and enforce sex offender registration laws, particularly when individuals with prior convictions are accused of reoffending. Updates will follow as the case progresses through the legal system.
