Woman Arrested for Stabbing in Dispute South of Florence Released After Charges Not Filed
FLORENCE, Ore. — A 58-year-old Westlake woman arrested late Tuesday night after a stabbing incident south of Florence has been released from custody after the Lane County District Attorney declined to pursue charges.
The incident, stemming from a dispute, occurred at a residence in the 6500 block of Canary Road around 9 p.m. on April 8th, prompting a response from Lane County Sheriff's deputies.
Despite deputies rushing to the scene with lights and sirens activated, limited staffing and distance from prior calls resulted in a 40-minute response time. At the location, they found one individual at the home and another in a nearby vehicle. One person had sustained facial cuts and a puncture wound to the leg.
Following their investigation, deputies arrested Carrie Jean Hogan, initially charging her with second-degree assault and unlawful use of a weapon. She was booked into Lane County Jail. However, the Lane County District Attorney’s Office decided not to file on either charge, and Hogan was released from jail today, April 9, 2025. The case, listed as #25-1674, remains under review.
