Woman Arrested After Threatening Eugene Thrift Store with Vehicle and Gun
EUGENE, Ore. — A 63-year-old woman, Toni Elizabeth Morgan, was arrested on April 5 after a tense standoff with Eugene Police following reports of menacing with a gun at a store located at 201 Division Avenue. The incident began at 6:33 p.m. when police received a call about a disorderly individual threatening to kill people inside the store.
According to authorities, Morgan had been disruptive inside the business before exiting to a Kia Forte in the parking lot. She briefly left the scene but returned, positioning her vehicle toward the store’s front entrance and revving the engine aggressively. Security personnel confronted her, reporting that she reached under her leg as if retrieving a weapon, prompting them to retreat and call police. Morgan was also seen pointing an object out of her window, leading to the store’s evacuation for safety.
When officers arrived, Morgan rolled up her heavily tinted window, obscuring their view inside, and continued screaming and revving her engine. After 56 minutes of negotiations and less-lethal force, including hailing her with no response, the situation escalated. Crisis Negotiation teams attempted communication, but Morgan ignored their efforts, casually drinking a soda and smoking a cigarette during the standoff.
Police eventually used an armored BearCat vehicle to pin Morgan’s car from the front, while a patrol vehicle secured it from the rear. A team then extracted her from the vehicle, safely taking her into custody. According to police, no firearm was found on her, or in the vehicle. She was transported to Lane County Jail, facing charges of Menacing, Disorderly Conduct, and Criminal Trespass in the Second Degree. The case is logged under number 25-05465.
