Welcome to Our Crime Watch Community: Some Guidelines for a Respectful and Focused Group

Dear Members,

Thank you for being part of our Facebook Crime Watch Group, a dedicated space for sharing and discussing verifiable information about local crime and safety. To ensure this group remains a valuable resource for our community, we ask all members to adhere to our established guidelines, which have been in place to maintain focus and respect.

This group is solely for crime watch-related content. It is not a platform for general discussions, humor, political opinions, anti-police sentiments, or personal disputes. We also ask that members refrain from posting misinformation or disinformation about police procedures, the court system, laws, or the District Attorney’s Office. Our goal is to foster a constructive environment grounded in accurate information.

Our volunteer admins work diligently to uphold these standards. They have the authority to remove content, suspend, or remove members who violate group rules, without prior notice. These decisions are made to protect the integrity of the group and are not open for debate. We encourage members to review our pinned rules, which outline expectations clearly.

Group Moderation and Post Approval Policy

Our volunteer administrators are committed to maintaining a safe, respectful, and high-quality environment for our 87,600+ members. As volunteers with personal and professional commitments, our team cannot monitor the group 24/7, which may occasionally result in infrequent delays in post approvals. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience caused by these rare delays.

These minor delays are a small trade-off to ensure our community remains free from spam, scams, inappropriate content, false information, and other harmful material. Our moderators decline thousands of posts to uphold the integrity of this group, far outweighing the number of delayed approvals.

To maintain a constructive environment, we kindly ask that members refrain from engaging administrators in arguments or disputes regarding post approval decisions or the infrequent delays caused by our volunteers' busy schedules. These decisions are final and made in the best interest of the community. We greatly appreciate your patience, understanding, and cooperation in keeping this group a valuable and trustworthy space for all.

If you find our guidelines challenging or incompatible with your preferences, you are welcome to leave the group or explore other communities that align with your views. For those who choose to stay, we value your contributions when they align with our mission of keeping the group focused, respectful, and informative.

We understand that rules can sometimes feel restrictive, but they are essential for maintaining a productive and supportive community.

If you have concerns or questions about content posted here, or the actions of members here, message an admin privately, and we’ll do our best to assist. Another way to inform admin about content that seems concerning to you is to click the "report to admin" option.

If you are family, friends, or otherwise connected to any suspect alleged to be involved in an incident posted to the group, this message is for you. Our group has clear guidelines, and we expect everyone to follow them, regardless of your relationship to a suspect.

There will be no arguing about their crime, the evidence, the arrest, or the booking record of any suspect. Comments like “Free my friend.” “You don’t know them.” “They’re being framed.” "You can't post their name of picture, remove it now." or similar claims will not be tolerated. Such behavior disrupts our community, spreads misinformation, and undermines our purpose.

This is a warning: Any member, family, friend, or otherwise, who violates these rules by arguing or defending suspects in a post or related discussions will face suspension or removal from the group.

Our focus is on keeping this group a respectful, trustworthy space for accurate information and support. Help us maintain that standard by adhering to our guidelines. Let’s keep the group running smoothly for everyone.
